Jensen X YYF ACT1

now yes, if u haven't read or heard about it, Jensen's in team YYF now.
stop the hating guys, Jensen needs it, he's got potential.
whether u like it or not, there's a very high possibility of him winning worlds, i like Hiroyuki, i like Yuuki, Ando, Shinya but yea, Jensen has it.
its all good between CLYW and him and YYF.
but with YYF Jensen can have more opportunities, stuff like sponsoring him to events? i don't know, i like CLYW, but i don't think Chris can afford sending him to contest?
anyone can correct me?
but just stop the hating.

Shinwoo ZEN3

here i have with me, yes, ZEN3, from Shine too of course.
u've seen pictures of the ZEN2, now see ZEN3, local guys have been showing interest yea?

so so so... the ZEN3's got a totally different shape. well yes, the 3 ZENs all got different shape.
first look reminds me of the Kamui. i'm personally not a fan of this shape for 1A play, but its not that bad after some getting use to.
feels fresh holding it,  not exactly a unique shape now i would say... there's so many new shapes coming out, but i haven't try holding one like this, uh, shape wise, yes Kamui, but its huge, this is like normal?

so ok, like all new Shinwoos, the ZEN3 comes with the rubber pads, reversible ones, funny thing is... this one comes with just one side with the rubber resposne, the other side, a silicone pad, hinting Shinwoo's next possible new response?
the tester comes with clear ano(how nice if it came color anoed), same thing, grind doesn't really work for me, as in, it 'climbs', again, not stay. it depends on what you're looking for in a grind. this does not have the 'stacks' system, but uses the same axle system, and similar hub like the ZEN. now, unlike the ZEN2, this feels like a normal metal yoyo, probably because it doesn't have the 'stack' pole/bearing system.

Stability wise, for now, think its pretty stable, for me... note i've not play very long enough, just receive it like 3 days? few hours each. i think for now that its more stable than the ZEN2, i personally thinks the lubrication affects, this ZEN3 does not come as heavily lubed as the ZEN2, and of course most probably due to the shape, its almost H-profile too, its pretty obvious eh?
it look like it can handle side style pretty well, but i don't know, i could be wrong since i'm not one who do side styles, but you guys can try it out.
so here's my input so far for the Shinwoo ZEN3, would add on if i think of any.
uh... although the ZEN2 seems rather heavily lubed, i still prefer it to the ZEN3. same old thing, its probably just me.
but i kinda enjoy doing front style with this yoyo, i still haven't figure out why.

Shinwoo ZEN2

yes, the long awaited ZEN2.
since the Shinwoo Hi-Power Zen, everyone look forward to the ZEN2 and 3.
here i have with me, a ZEN2 sample from Shine.
pictures first...

first look reminds me of the YYP Big Bang, after holding it, it feels more like a YYF SuperStar.
but of course, its just the feel when u hold it. not the play. this one come prelubed, its not tug responsive, but not exactly dead unresponsive. i took apart the yoyo and see lubrication on the bearing seat, this thing needs to be break in. comes with the standard rubber pads. large bearing.

i don't like it at first, but start to enjoy it after that. it could be due to the warm weather, or this thing just need some getting use to. my 2nd day using is was nice. it doesn't feel like most metal yoyo, probably due to the way they fitted the hub spinning pole(talk abt it later). i assume the bearing is heavily lubed cause a throw doesn't last me very long, but after breaking in, its alright. but its a quiet yoyo considering its got 'stacks'. shape wise, i prefer this to the ZEN3(up later), it feels more comfortable in the hand, but just too much lube for my preference. probably gonna like it even more after cleaning the bearing, but won't be doing so for time being, i'll let u guys try out the stock version(yes, same thing, come find me in meeting if u wanna try it).
grindability... i don't know, it doesn't work for me. we're talking about no gloves.
no beadblast, just ano, its unlike the ZEN  which got the line thingy, sorry still have no idea if there's a term for that in yoyo... but then again, it could be just me. alright the grind don't stay, it climbs, u know, it doesn't stay and grind at one spot smoothly, it 'climbs'... lol, i'm actually direct translating the term from mandarin, we describe it as climb, u get it.... forgot to add that, this yoyo is more of a normal size yoyo, slightly smaller than yoyos like the YYF SuperStar. also, it could be due to the lube, or just me, i personally think the stability is not as stable as the ZEN. maybe i need more time to test this out.
now....
Notice ZEN2 has this side spinning hub thingy, like what many will call a "hubstack", but, note, there is no stacks. instead, its some kind of pole being fitted into this large size bearing.
instead of using the outer race of the bearing for gripping, Shinwoo used the inner race.
the bearing cannot be remove, alright, maybe u can with some force, but whether u'll damage the system, i'm not very sure. this makes the hub bearing unable to be cleaned. the 'stacks' aren't exactly smooth, mine atleast, the pole feels like its not fitted straight, it 'wobble', the pole, not the yoyo... but its not at all noisy. its quiet. very quiet.
but but but, since the 'stack' bearing cannot be remove... u gotta be careful with it. for YYF hubstacked yoyos, if the bearing die on u, u can just get a replacement and there u have a new smooth hubstack, but the ZEN2? if it die on u, it die on u. but u can still play with it though... just no 'stack' play...
ah yes... this thing is rather fast.
so yea, there u go, my thoughts about the Shinwoo ZEN2.

Asia Pacific Yoyo Chamionship 2010: UPDATES

Dear Spinners of Asia,
Some updates regarding AP.

1. The competitor lists for the 5 main divisions are posted. Please visit the AP site and check that your name is there if you are competiting. Please let us know asap if you do not see your name. We will use the list to start planning the sequence of the qualifying freestyles.

2. The hotel does not have that many twin rooms (2 single beds) so for some of you, you may have to share a double bed with your room mate. We understand may not the most ideal case. We will put up the room allocation list over this few days so you can check and let us know if you have any violent objections. We have limited twin rooms so we seek your cooperation to compromise on this matter.

3. We mentioned that there will be major changes to the format of the AP Team Battle. We have uploaded a short demo video of how the battle should look like. Please watch it to get a better idea and you should start forming your teams now. Please read through the rules carefully (under Categories link), especially the part where you cannot have 2 members from the same country. Start looking for team members via Facebook, MSN or your preferred means.

4. The sponsors logos are up on the website. As you can imagine, it wasn't easy to organise AP and it was only made possible with the support of these sponsors. Please familiarize yourself with them and thank them when you see them during AP!

5. The AP facebook page is little quiet! We hope to see more posts and interactions from different countries or is everyone too busy polishing their yo-yos? Post up your training photos, share your thoughts and well wishes.

Thats all for now. This is going to be the first AP featuring so many world champions and they will give everyone else a run for their money! Let us know if you have any other questions and we have 17 days left to AP!

Best,

West Coast Classic Team Relay 2010

Hey guys! This is your friendly neighbourhood loudmouth Cheng hijacking your daily dosage of yoyo news to tell you guys about this year's Team Relay! As you all know, West Coast Classic will happen on the 21st of March and this time, we have updated the relay to make it more accessible to newer players so all of you can join!

So basically the relay is a certain set of tasks/tricks that each team must complete in the fastest time and the faster team will proceed on to the next round etc. You need a Team of 4 players and a name for your team (Be creative, nothing offensive).
At the start, everyone will line up behind the start point, as below

On Ready, set, GO! Player 1 runs up right next to the table with chilli sauce and spins 10 rounds (same direction) and then does a Rocket catch. (Notes: Rocket goes above head, catch with hands)

Once that's caught, Player 2 runs to the spot beside and does Dogbite. (Note: Any part of any garment. Pants/shirt is ok)

Once yoyo is stuck to garment, Player 3 runs to the spot beside and does 10 reps of Loop the loop. (Note: 1 hand loops, corkscrews allowed and will count so you don't need perfect loops.)

Once loop the loop is caught, Player 4 spins 7 rounds (same direction) and throws his Offstring yoyo. The goal is to get the yoyo to Player 1 without dropping it or stopping its spin. So he passes it to Player 3 who catches it on his string, who passes it to Player 2, then Player 1. Player 1 can catch with his hands but yoyo must be spinning while in the air. (Notes: If yoyo spin is dying you can bind back and throw again but it will take time. Player 4 or Player 3 can toss straight to Player 1.)

Once Player 1 has caught the Offstring yoyo, he has to quickly swallow a serving of Chilli sauce! First Player to swallow and open his mouth wide to prove, wins for his team!
Go get your teams together and start training! (As we approach the Semi-finals and finals, we WILL make things slightly tougher but generally it'll still be like this)

DOT Yoyos: Update

More info about DOT Yoyo from Jan "Korda" Kordovsky:

here are some details about DOT company.

They introduced themselves at Czech Yoyo Nationals 2009 with their yoyo called 70p [little interesting fact - it's DOT logo flipped in 180°]. This yoyo has 2 versions. Standard one and Lite one which has only 58 grams but thanks to it's weight distribution it's not disturbing - it actually plays really great. Company has 2 owners - Jakub Kroutil and Adam Gaszcyk.

They're speciality is that [at least in CZ] they can produce a yoyo which you can completly customize. Think NIKE ID style. Colors, response system and even laser engraving - and still maintaining that 1600czk pricemark. Which is pretty remarkable.

In other Czech news - there's a new store/website called Projekt Jupiter - you can check it out at: http://projektjupiter.cz/ .

Also - we can now confirm that Czech Yoyo Nationals 2010 will take place at 16/10/2010 in Prague, Czech Republic.
